The stars of 'Loose Women' are all facing the axe.

The ITV lunchtime talk show's panel - including Carol Vorderman, Carol McGiffin, Denise Welch and Janet Street-Porter - could be fired if they don't turn the show's ratings around in three months.

Returning ITV daytime boss Helen Warner - who created the show in 1999 before moving to Channel 4 - is reportedly unhappy with the show's direction in recent years, feeling it should be "newsier", and wants the leading ladies to win back viewers, which have reportedly slipped from two million to just 700,000.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Everyone's terrified. Helen has a clear idea of what she wants.

"She created 'Loose Women' in 1999 so it is her baby. She thinks it has strayed from her original vision."

All of the panel - which also includes Sherrie Hewson, Jane McDonald, Lisa Maxwell, Sally Lindsay, Shobna Gulati, Linda Robson and Andrea McLean - have been give 12 week contracts for the new series and they will all come under review in January.

It's thought Carol, 52, is a hot contender to face the axe as Helen reportedly had a hand in her departure from Channel 4 show 'Countdown'.

ITV responded to the claims, saying: We don't comment on contracts."
