Carol McGiffin had stopped looking in the mirror before she underwent a facelift.
The 58-year-old presenter had grown tired of seeing her own reflection, but is now happy to look in the mirror again after going under the knife.
She said: "It's not about looking younger, it's about looking my best and more in line with the person I feel inside.
"I feel I've had my face put back to where it was.
"There is an element of looking in the mirror and if it doesn't reflect how you're feeling, it's horrible! I'd started to avoid it."
Carol had one of her boobs removed after being diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2014, and she now feels the treatment "aged" her "a lot".
She told Best magazine: "My face just didn't match with what's going on in my head. I felt like my cancer and the treatments had aged me a lot.
"I started to feel there was no point in trying to look 'nice' I'd avoid make-up. I thought it would just highlight nooks and crannies. Now I feel good."
Carol decided to have her facelift under local anaesthetic in the hope she would have a quicker recovery time, and she was "sparko" during the op.
The former 'Loose Women' panellist returned to the show last week, and admitted her facelift has made her feel happier about her appearance.
She said: "I had something done to my face and I feel happy with it, it just made me feel better about myself."
