Sir Bruce Forsyth has pulled out of hosting Saturday night's (05.10.13) 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The 85-year-old star, who co-presents the programme alongside Tess Daly, has been forced to drop out of the show because he has been struck down with flu, but show bosses are expecting him to be back next weekend.

The BBC said: "Sir Bruce Forsyth has the flu and therefore isn't feeling well enough to present tomorrow's Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One.

"The show looks forward to his return next week."

Claudia Winkleman, who hosts the Sunday evening results show with Tess, will stand in for the TV veteran.

Bruce has hosted the show since its first series in 2004, but his good friend Ronnie Corbett recently said he thinks the entertainer might quit the programme this year.

He explained: "Bruce seems to thrive on entertaining but whether he will thrive after this series of 'Strictly' I don't know.

"He must get tired. I think after this series he will give himself a Brucie Bonus.

"Every Saturday is gruelling. It is really hard going.

"It is not something I could do each week on Saturday nights now.

"I enjoy working but only on certain things. Bruce is a special breed and his talents are very diverse as he can dance and play the piano.

"But Bruce does not walk down the stairs now -- he comes down from the side like a dancer."

'Strictly' airs tomorrow night at 6:20pm on BBC One.
