The final chapter of Broadchurch is now OFFICIALLY right around the corner, with ITV today confirming that the third series of the crime drama would be debuting on Monday, February 27.
Olivia Colman and David Tennant reunite for one final outing as yet another gripping mystery is brought to the small coastal town of Broadchurch. This time though, a cast of new characters will be caught in the crosshairs, as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller do their best to find out who the perpetrator is in a sexual assault.
Speaking at a recent press event, Tennant said of the final episodes: “You don’t want to give anything away, but I think [the ending] strikes the perfect note. Certainly in the case of my character and Olivia’s character, it leaves them exactly where you would expect them to be left. There’s a great satisfaction.”
Creator Chris Chibnall added: “I think everybody who has read it, and been in it, and people who have seen it… I feel like there’s a sense of a story closing and ending, and going back to its beginning. I hope it’s satisfying.”
Though Chibnall’s work on the show will be complete once the final series has aired, he’ll be moving on to take on the role of executive producer on Doctor Who, as Steven Moffat steps down following the 10th series. Peter Capaldi also revealed the 10th series would be his last, so Chibnall will be working with a completely new Doctor.
Broadchurch comes to ITV at 9pm on Monday, February 27.
