'Britain's Got Talent' went off air for almost 15 minutes on Monday night (28.05.18) after an electric storm battering London interfered with the television technology.

Fans of the popular talent show were left confused last night when the episode cut out mid-way through and they were faced with a black screen for several minutes after the horrendous weather - which saw more than 60,000 lightening bolts strike across the UK - created a glitch in the technology and disrupted the live stream.

An ITV spokesperson said at the time: "We're having some issues - we hope to return to the show as soon as possible.

"We hope to return as soon as possible and we are working to fix the issue."

Some quick-thinking bosses then filled the gap by replaying old 'BGT' auditions before Dec Donnelly - who is presenting the live shows on his own while his co-partner Ant McPartlin recuperates - returned and apologised for the blunder.

He said: "Welcome, back the weather has caused some technical difficulties so apparently some of you didn't get the first part of this episode at home."

Simon Cowell then tried to make light of the situation by claiming Ant was the culprit because he didn't like that Dec was stealing all the limelight on screen.

Dec quipped: "I was just going to say, Ant you are coming back next year, you didn't have to do that."

However, viewers were left reeling yet again - and some took to social media to complain - as just a few minutes, the show cut to an advert break.
