Brian Conley's dad used to put his posters up on the 'EastEnders' set.
The 59-year-old actor has joined the BBC One soap as Sonia Fowler's (Natalie Cassidy) dad Terry Cant, and the star has revealed his own late father used to work as a prop man on the show, and one of his duties was putting some of his son's tour posters up in Albert Square.
Brian said: "He would often be there a lot and post posters in the markets – you could see me in the background of a Gillian Taylforth scene."
The entertainer also admitted he burst into tears when he first stepped foot in Albert Square, because he knows there are so many people would who would love to act on the show.
He said: "There's so many of my friends who are not in this position, and I cannot tell you how lucky I am.
"And that's why when I was on that Square the first time, I cried.
"Because I appreciated how many other people would die to be here and would die to just be part of the business that I personally, and so many of my friends, have grown up in."
Brian recently admitted the soap's bosses are bringing the character into the show to "lighten it up a bit" amid all the "doom and gloom" of the coronavirus pandemic.
He said: "The producers and the casting directors said, 'We want to talk to you,' I thought it was just a Zoom.
“They went, 'So this is the character, probably starts in March and we’d love you to be in it a year.'
"I went, 'So you’re offering me that are you?' And they went, 'Yeah.' So I didn’t even have to read for it or anything.
"He’s a cheeky Cockney lad, so it’s a bit of a strain, and he’s always got a little funny line to say.
"I do know where they’re coming from. Where they’re coming from right now with COVID and everything they just want to lighten it up a bit and not be so doom and gloom."
