Bradley Walsh says it's a "thrill" following in the footsteps of his "hero" Les Dawson by hosting the 'Blankety Blank' reboot.
The 60-year-old star is set to host the iconic game show when it returns to TV screens on Christmas Day, and Bradley feels honoured to be following the late comedy star, who presented the programme from 1984 until 1990.
Asked whether he's feeling the pressure of hosting the show, Bradley replied: "I’m not feeling the pressure so much, just the fact that I love bit of nostalgic telly and to follow in the footsteps of Sir Terry Wogan and one of my heroes Les Dawson, having worked on the show as a studio warm-up for Les a few times. It’s a thrill for me."
Bradley actually appeared on an episode of the show back in 1998, when Lily Savage hosted the programme.
The episode also saw him appear alongside his former 'Coronation Street' co-star Liz Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth in the long-running soap.
Asked if he has fond memories of his first appearance on the programme, Bradley replied: "I did. Lily Savage hosted the show fantastically well and little did I know having sat next to Liz Dawn that six years later I’ll be working with her on 'Coronation Street'. What goes around comes around."
Bradley confirmed that 'Blankety Blank's iconic cheque book and pen will be making a return this Christmas.
However, the popular presenter revealed the cheque book and pen will be gold rather than silver.
Bradley - who also hosts 'The Chase' on ITV - said: "Absolutely it will be making a return and I’m thrilled with it because this time, it isn’t silver, it’s gold, and that for me is win win."
