Brad McClelland has been dumped from ‘Love Island’.
The 25-year-old labourer chose to walk away from the villa during Wednesday’s (14.07.21) episode of the ITV2 reality competition, after he and his partner Lucinda Strafford were voted the least compatible couple in a public vote on Tuesday’s (13.07.21) episode.
After topping the vote, Brad and Lucinda had to decide if they left together or if just one of them went home, and ultimately Brad chose to leave with Lucinda opting to stay in the hopes of finding love again.
Of his decision, Brad said: “I’m gutted to be leaving the villa. I’ve been in here from the start and obviously Lucinda walked in and blew me away. Her journey in there has been short, it’s only just beginning, and I’d feel selfish taking that from her.
“If she finds someone in there then I’ll be happy for her, but if she doesn’t then she knows where I am.”
And in the Beach Hut, Lucinda revealed: “It’s so weird like, I just want to put on his jumper and go to sleep. I’ll miss absolutely everything, there’ll only be one Brad, ever.”
The 21-year-old online fashion boutique owner was initially conflicted about whether she should leave with Brad, as although she “really likes” the labourer, she felt as though their week-long bond wasn’t enough to base such a big decision on.
But her choice to stay in the villa irritated fellow contestant Faye Winters, who felt Lucinda wasn’t being genuine by staying in the villa and ditching Brad.
Faye said in the Beach Hut: “I don’t understand what extra reason you’re here for when you say how much you fancied him and that he’s the reason you’ve come in here. Why when given the opportunity do you stay? I don’t know. I don’t know.”
Brad now joins Shannon Singh, Chuggs Wallis, and Rachel Finni as the fourth person booted from the villa.
‘Love Island’ continues Thursday (15.07.21) at 9pm on ITV2 and the ITV Hub.
