'Celebrity Big Brother' is expected to return for second series on ITV.
The channel’s bosses are said to be "thrilled" by how the current series, the first ever season on ITV, has performed in the ratings, after nearly four million tuned into the launch episode - on TVs, online and mobiles - and it has been streamed more than 12 million times on ITVX.
A TV source told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "Bosses have been thrilled with how 'CBB' has performed.
"They were already looking forward to series two of the civilian series in the autumn and have now added a second series of the ’CBB’ to the pot."
ITV were said to have forked out huge sums to attract former 'X Factor' judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne to the series, and bosses are said to be pleased with the "buzz" the series has created.
The source added: "The number of viewers watching live has sat solidly above one million all series which is meaty for a daily show at 9pm.
"Of course, the majority of fans these days are watching on catch-up the next morning or on lunch breaks so that’s why execs were particularly chuffed with the consolidated seven-day results.
"The buzz has also been massive, with conversations about the show dominating social media just like the old days.
"It’s the kind of hallmark show that’s in ITV’s DNA."
A live double eviction will take place on Tuesday night's (19.03.24) episode of the show - which is co-hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best - when two of Fern Britton, Zeze Millz, Nikita Kuzmin, and Marisha Wallace will get the boot from the abode.
'Celebrity Big Brother' continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX and is available in Ireland on Virgin Media Two and Virgin Media Player.
