Boris Johnson was asked to hold “talks” to be a contestant on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’.
The former Prime Minister, 59, is thought to have considered copying his 82-year-old father Stanley’s 2018 stint in the jungle but according to a source, it's “not looking likely” anymore. because he "doesn't need" the money.
A telly insider told The Sun newspaper: “He’s not looking likely. The truth is he doesn’t need the cash as much as he did before, thanks to his income from speeches, and, of course, he still thinks he’s going to stage some sort of political comeback at some stage.”
Boris apparently turned down the invitation to chat with producers of the star-studded ITV1 survivalist reality show - which is fronted by Ant and Dec, both 46, and has featured many huge names from across showbiz - and no intention to “do so”.
A spokesperson for the politician said: "Boris is not doing this programme and is not in talks to do so."
The former Spectator journalist would be following in the footsteps of his former Cabinet colleagues Nadine Dorries, 66, and former health secretary Matt Hancock, who came third on the show last year.
ed his stint on last year’s ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ to beg for “forgiveness” and explained he had made a "big" mistake" after his affair aide Gina Coladangelo was exposed whilst his own social distancing rules were in place.
He told ‘Loose Women’ panellist and fellow campmate Charlene White: “Do you know what it is actually what I’m really looking for is a bit of forgiveness, that’s what I’m really looking for. We all make mistakes. I made a pretty big one.”
