Bobby Davro has got engaged.
The 64-year-old comic proposed to Vicky Wright - who he has had an on/off relationship with for 12 years - last month and the pair celebrated their impending nuptials with a party for friends and family at The Kings Arms in Egham, Surrey, a few fays ago.
Vicky - who is the daughter of former England footballer Billy Wright and the Beverley Sisters' Joy Beverley, gushed: "I'm on cloud nine".
During the party, surprise video messages from pals including Sir Cliff Richard, Lee Mead and Gilbert O'Sullivan to the bride-to-be were broadcast on a big screen.
A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Vicky was touched with all the messages.
"They’re wasn’t a dry eye in the house. They plan to tie the knot next year.”
The engagement will bring some welcome joy to the former 'EastEnders' actor - who has three children with ex-wife Trudi Jameson - because he previously admitted the COVID-19 pandemic took its toll on him financially as he was not able to work and emotionally after his dad died Bill at the start of 2021 at the age of 95.
He said: "There was no work at all. I only did three gigs last year. I’ve had a terrible couple of years, like most people in showbusiness. But it wasn’t just the work and the money, I missed performing. It’s like a drug to me, I love it. I did a couple of Zoom shows but I don’t like doing that.
"It’s been very difficult and I took out a bounceback loan. I read somewhere that I was bankrupt. I’m not broke but it’s been worrying. Then I lost my father at the start of the year, which was miserable. He was 95 and I miss him every single day. I used to speak to him three or four times a day. I’m so used to calling him that a few weeks ago I forgot he’d died and dialled his number.
"It sounds like a really tough time ... You’ve got to look at things glass half-full. The lockdown gave me the opportunity to spend more time with my dad during the last year of his life so in a way that was a good thing because I usually work away an awful lot."
