Billy Connolly is to explore the rich variety of attitudes, belief systems, customs and rituals in relation to death in a brand new ITV series.
The journey will take him to different locations across the globe where he'll immerse himself within the company of people who have differing religious, social and cultural boundaries, hoping to discover just what death means to different communities and how it's marked in many diverse ways.
The much-loved comedian will also discuss his own death, how he hopes to be remembered and the way in which he'd like to go.
A pet cemetery in San Francisco, a convention of funeral directors in Texas and a drive-thru funeral parlour in Los Angeles are just some of the places and people Billy will come across on his journey.
Director of Factual at ITV Richard Klein said: “Death comes to us all, that much we know. And yet still it can come as a shock, to realise that. In this series Billy, sometimes playfully, sometimes profoundly, but always humorously, explores the world of traditions, attitudes, funerals and headstones that one way and another we will all have to deal at some point in our lives.”
The show is expected to air later this year.
