Billie Piper's husband Laurence Fox has quit acting.
The 'Lewis' star has portrayed detective James Hathaway for nine years in the hit ITV drama and has now decided to turn his back on the role to pursue a career in music.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said: "I've done a lot of years of that job and I feel more like a policeman than I do an actor. I feel like I need a bit of time away. I love acting, I just don't feel inspired to do it right now."
He added: "Acting sort of happened first. Then after a while I just had to go, 'No, I need to do it now.' Otherwise I wouldn't have done it and it would have been really sad."
The 37-year-old star has already hit the ground running by releasing his first single 'Headlong' and is preparing to share his debut album, which is dedicated to Billie, next year.
He explained: "We are rehearsing today and it's like, 'This is a good day.' Better than sitting down and waiting for someone to go, 'We need you on set in an hour.
"Obviously, music is much riskier and you don't get a cheque, with ITV written on it, at the end of every week."
Meanwhile, Billie, 33 - who married the hunk in 2007 - also had a dramatic career change when she swapped music for her hopes and dreams of becoming a successful actress.
Asked if he'll duet with the blonde beauty, who had hits with 'Honey To The Bee' and 'Day And Night' in 1998 and 2000 respectively, he said: "She is an actress now. It is a long, long, long time ago that she was in the music business."
