Billie Piper has joined the cast of new psychological thriller 'Penny Dreadful'.
The 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl' actress will star alongside several James Bond alumni in the Sky Atlantic drama including Eva Green and Rory Kinnear, who appeared in 'Skyfall', and Timothy Dalton, who played the suave spy in 1989's 'Licence to Kill'.
The 30-year-old beauty will portray Irish immigrant Brona Croft, who has arrived in Victorian London to escape her dark past, and US actor Josh Hartnett is to play Ethan Chandler, an American who gets caught up in the dark underground of the era.
Several classic characters from legendary gothic novels will feature in the series including Bram Stoker's Dracula, Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, who will be portrayed by Harry Treadaway.
'Penny Dreadful' Director Sam Mendes and series creator John Logan continue the Bond link as the drama marks their first major production since they worked on 'Skyfall' together.
John said: "I'm thrilled to be bringing 'Penny Dreadful' to life here in the UK, where the show is set and was conceived over many years of wandering the streets of London."
Anne Mensah, Sky's Head of Drama, explained: "We're thrilled to be working with John Logan and Sam Mendes on what will be a stunning, mesmerising and terrifying series on a cinematic scale - all of which makes it perfect for Sky Atlantic."
