The former 'Big Brother' contestant - who became known as Mr. Showbiz after appearing on the reality show in 2015 - dropped his festive track 'Showbiz Christmas' on Friday (20.11.20) to raise money for Age UK.

He said: "There’s something about Christmas that makes people incredibly fond of a corny, catchy tune!

"I wanted Mr. Showbiz to embrace the chance to take Christmas songs back to the style of their hey day.

"'Showbiz Christmas' is camper than Christmas it really does put the mince in mince pie and the crack in cracker with a song and performance that’s more fruity than auntie’s Christmas cake!

"And of course, on a more serious note I am raising money for Age UK, a charity that is very close to my heart."

The presenter wants to "cheer up the nation" with his song which he hopes will bring the UK some "colour and showbiz" after a difficult year due the COVID-19 pandemic.

He explained: "It harks back to the old Christmas classics which were always as cheesy as they were catchy.

"So many of the classic Christmas songs are that you here playing on every Christmas soundtrack in every shop, are fun silly catchy poppy songs, that for some reason have managed to worm their way into the nation’s heart.

"That’s why I wrote this song. I’m ready to bring colour and showbiz and glitter to the world."

Age UK is an important organisation for Simon, who had a weekend job in a local care home as a teenager.

He shared: "I’ve always felt that the elderly were close to my heart, and this of course goes all the way back to assisting in a care home when I was 13 and putting on little show for the residents.

"I’ve always felt that the elderly deserves more time attention and care. This is especially the case now the pandemic is upon us."

'Showbiz Christmas' is available to stream and download now.
