The beloved Channel 4 show was brought back for a four episode run last year following a successful one-off reboot in 2021 as part of the broadcaster's Black to Front project, and there had been calls for AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan to host another series this year.

However, a spokesperson said: "Although there are no shows planned for this year The Big Breakfast may well return in the future."

The reboot was commissioned for four episodes last summer, and there were no firm plans in place to make any more.

The 1990s show as originally hosted by Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan before AJ and Mo took over.

The news will come as a blow to Mo after Channel 4 confirmed 'The Big Narstie Show' won't be back for a sixth series.

The network confirmed: "The decision not to recommission a sixth series of The Big Narstie Show is not part of our response to challenges in the advertising market.

"We are immensely proud of the five series we have made of this innovative Bafta-winning show but we have to look carefully at what we commission each year to make sure we continue to innovate and offer viewers a varied range of programming.

"We look forward to working with Dice, Expectation and Big Narstie on other projects in the future."

And AJ will also be disappointed after 'The Big Blow Out' was also among those to be cancelled by the broadcaster, along with the likes of 'Four Weddings' and 'Rescue: Extreme Medics'.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "The Big Blow Out gave us many spectacular hair creations and we grew to love our passionate prodigies, but like all broadcasters we often have to make the difficult decision to stop making some programmes in order to make new ones."
