The 61-year-old actress has joked she should be paid "a fortune" to wear some of the garish outfits her alter-ego Liz McDonald dons on the ITV soap.

In response to a fan who tweeted to ask how much extra 'Corrie' bosses had paid Bev to wear a pink blouse on last night's (21.06.18) episode, she replied: "Yep, you're right Liz's clothes just get worse!!! X

"Lol. I should be earning a fortune! X (sic)"

While she isn't enjoying Liz's clothing choices, Bev was pleased to see her alter-ego turn down Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley) last week.

After one fan insisted she was "pleased" to see Liz reject Johnny because she can "do much better", the actress replied: "Oh yes. Lol. X (sic)"

What's more, Bev doesn't appear to agree with her character's standards of behaviour.

In response to a viewer who tweeted her to say Liz has the "morals of an alley cat", she wrote: "Yes I'm afraid you're right. X (sic)"

Bev is set to be reunited with her on-screen husband Jim McDonald later this year when Charles Lawson returns to the cobbles to reprise the role.

He recently said: "They wanted me back full time this year but I couldn't do it as I am doing 'Rebus' on stage, and a thriller.

"I'm going to film a bit but then will be back again next year."

But Jim could be set to return to Weatherfield with a muscle-wasting condition.

Former series producer Kate Oates said: "We played a story 18 months [ago] where it seemed like Steve might have inherited a genetic disease from his dad, but no one went to see Jim to ask if he was OK.

"We have a great story to play with that."
