The 61-year-old actor plays Liz McDonald in the ITV soap, and she would love to see the 56-year-old star's alter-ego Curly Watts - who last appeared on the show in 2003 - back in Weatherfield.

In response to a fan poll about which 'Corrie' character people would like to bring back, she replied: "Curly Watts!!! Gets my vote. X (sic)"

Beverley has also hinted her character Liz will make more "terrible life decisions" in upcoming scenes.

She wrote on Twitter: "Just reading amazing scripts! @itvcorrie Liz makes terrible life decisions! As always! She gets worse! Lol. Love it. X (sic)"

Beverley's comments come just two months after Kevin admitted he would be up for reprising his role in the show, and claims there have been "mutterings" from soap bosses about him heading back to Weatherfield.

He said: "I would like to go back. I think Curly was a very interesting character...he was multi-faceted.

"There have been mutterings about me going back. So we'll have to wait and see what happens.

"I think the fans always enjoy it when a character returns, it's something they are familiar with.

"I have very good relations with both ITV and Coronation Street. Ultimately it's down to them."

Since departing 'Corrie', Kevin has starred in 'Blue Murder', 'Holby City' and 'Doctors', but counts the Manchester-based soap as the "best thing" he's done.

He said: "I always trusted the 'Coronation Street' writers because they rarely missed the mark.

"We were lucky. We were in the right place at the right time.

"And we had an incomparable script that gripped the nation.

"I'm very proud of my history with Coronation Street.

"I still think it's the best thing I've done. I enjoy it when people remember my time there. It's humbling. People remember the stories because often they tied in with something happening in their personal life at the time."
