Mateo (Jake Canuso) tries to get back with his old flame, Kelly (Niky Wardley). Unfortunately Kelly's mother, Sylvia (Wendy Richard), is in town and she doesn't suffer fools gladly. Madge (Shelia Reid) accuses Sylvia of messing with her man and a slanging match leads to their squaring up in their mobility chairs for a terrifying Western-style shoot out around the pool. Wendt Richard guest stars in this episode as Sylvia, the sharp tongued mother of ex-Solana employee Kelly who was engaged to ladys man Mateo. Wendy says: My character Sylvia is a tough cookie and very self opinionated. She goes out to Spain to sort out her daughter's, love life. Kelly (Niky Wardley) was engaged to the Spanish waiter/barman Mateo and discovered he had been unfaithful, so Sylvia is on a mission to sort him out! Wendy laughs as she describes how bad she was at controlling the mobility chair. It was hysterical trying to get the hang of using the mobility chairs because I dont drive anyway so I found it extra hard to control. Every time I was filming a scene on the marble flooring and I had to drive out of shot, everyone would run a mile as they knew I could so easily crash into them. I only had a few minutes practice in the chair on a tennis court before filming, and I wasnt so bad then. It was the shiny marble that caused me bother if I wasnt zooming into a broom cupboard by mistake, I was knocking over potted palms.Paul Jackson, ITVs director of Entertainment and Comedy says: Derren has once again written a wonderful series of scripts. All the characters we loved in the first series are back with even more outrageous storylines and stunts. The cast really are some of the best comedy talent we have in the UK and Im thrilled we have some very fantastic new additions. Benidorm is written and created by Derren Litten, produced by Geoffrey Perkins (Harry Enfield, Spitting Image, Father Ted, Catherine Tate Show), and directed by BAFTA award-winning Sandy Johnson (Jonathan Creek, Kingdom, Love Soup). Sophie Clarke-Jervoise is executive producer.Producer Geoffrey Perkins, from Tiger Aspect, adds: We were all delighted at how well Benidorm performed last year on ITV and that all of our tremendous cast are back with some wonderful new additions. As we discovered filming the new series there seems already big recognition of the characters. Series Two brings a fiesta of bullfighting, arm-wrestling, romance, night-time beach activities and a cucumber.
