Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock
'Sherlock' will carry on with Benedict Cumberpatch until the star gets "too famous".
Show creator Steven Moffat quipped about the rising star of his leading man in the BBC One crime drama - following his success in Hollywood movies such as 'Star Trek Into Darkness' and '12 Years a Slave' - and says the hit show will only continue for as long as Benedict remains available.
He joked: "It will continue until Benedict gets too famous!"
However, the 37-year-old actor downplayed any notions that he may give up his most famous role as super-sleuth Sherlock Holmes after three seasons because he finds the show so "invigorating".
Speaking at a Television Critics Association (TCA) panel in Los Angeles yesterday (20.01.14), he said: "I'm fine with it. I'm going to keep going with it. It's a schedule-providing thing ... I love it, I find it very invigorating."
Meanwhile, Steven confirmed that Amanda Abbington - who was introduced as John Watson's love interest Mary - will become a main cast member in 'Sherlock' going forward, joining Benedict and her real-life husband Martin Freeman.
He said: "Mary's absolutely here. We don't just off her. How would that be at the start of the next series. 'Where's Mary?', 'Dead!'
"If you have a female perspective on the two men, it's very, very funny and very illuminating."
