Scandal's Bellamy Young hopes Olivia Pope and President Fitz Grant won't get their happy ending.
The 44-year-old actress - who plays Fitz's scorned wife, the First Lady of the United States, Mellie Grant - has admitted she doesn't want her on-screen husband (played by Tony Goldwyn) to sail off into the sunset with his mistress, played by Kerry Washington, when the series ends.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I certainly hope not! How horrible [of me]! I like to think of Olivia as a short term problem. I'd like to think of Olivia as something Fitz will get over, I like to think of a time when perhaps Mellie is president and Fitz is the First Gentleman, but these are things that Mellie likes to think of."
Bellamy's vicious character often gets into heated arguments with Olivia, but the actress says the atmosphere on set is far from bleak when the cameras stop rolling.
She explained: "I'm lucky because we're the closest cast ever, it's the sweetest bunch of people - so kind, so hard working. And we love to embrace it together and we spend a lot time off set together."
Bellamy says her close friendship with Kerry, 37, allows them to be mean and nasty when filming scenes between Mellie and her love rival Olivia, and they embrace the opportunity to run wild.
The flame-haired star enthused: "There's just no more fun than when you get to be that completely unleashed and you can't be that completely unleashed unless you really trust who you're with. So it's a credit to what a love she is that we enjoy all of that ranting as much as we do."
'Scandal' Season 3 starts on July 31 at 9pm on Sky Living.
