Bear Grylls in Escape from Hell

Bear Grylls has jokingly described helping his cameraman - after being bitten on his manhood - as "super fun".

The member of Grylls' crew got attacked by an inch-long bullet ant, and the 'Escape from Hell' presenter couldn't help but laugh when retelling the story of the uncomfortable, intimate injury.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Bear - who has three sons, Jesse, Marmaduke and Huckleberry - said: "Our camera guy got bitten by a bullet ant on the end of his penis - I've never heard a primal scream like it.

"These things are about an inch long, the ant that is. It was super fun trying to get the sting out."

Bear - whose new show 'Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell' sees him relive the experiences of ordinary people who cheated death in some incredible situations - has been involved in several near-death experiences himself and admits he has been lucky to walk away on a number of occasions.

He added: "In this series I got into a sticky situation in a rapid, getting caught in a tree but in the past there have been many times where I thought I might die, endless close calls with nasty snakes, sharks and salt water crocodiles.

"I have been in deserts where they have said if you don't get water in three hours you are going to die."

Bear is back in brand new series, 'Bear Grylls: Escape from Hell', premiering on Discovery Channel on October 7 at 9pm (Sky 520 and Virgin 211).
