The intriguing teaser trailer for upcoming BBC One series, The Tourist has been revealed, ahead of the show's debut in early January, 2022.
The Tourist has a brilliant cast involved, including Jamie Dornan (50 Shades film series), Danielle Macdonald (Bird Box), Shalom Brune-Franklin (Other Life) Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Meg), with Alex Dimitriades (The Infinite Man) and Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).
This explosive series is set to be a thrilling character-led story, and comes from Emmy-winning production company, Two Brothers Pictures (Baptiste, The Missing, Fleabag); the show was created by acclaimed writers Harry and Jack Williams.
Dornan stars as a British man who finds himself right in the middle of the Australian outback, all the while being chased down by a tank truck trying to steer him off the road.
What follows is an incredible cat-and-mouse situation, and with Dornan’s character waking up in the hospital, injured and unsure of how he got there; his biggest problem now seems to be that while his past hunts him down, he cannot remember who he is.
The man’s search for seemingly hard to find answers see him travel the harsh and unforgiving lands of the outback, which poses both threats and the answers sought by the man with no memory.
The Tourist combines action with comedy and exciting thrills; the show’s narrative takes place in a world populated with quirky, mysterious characters, and with humour littered through what is sure to be an exciting six-part series.
Right at the heart of this intense adventure, however, is a tale of self-discovery with the ever-present threat of time running out. As Dornan's character begins to unveil the truth to who he was, he must ask himself who he is now, in the present.
He needs to find answers, and fast; will he find the secrets of his identity before those who hunt him down get too close?
The trailer for The Tourist is short and sweet, but showcases Dornan in his leading role, as well as some of the other cast members. The dry desert setting seems to play well with the story, as The Man battles with his memories in a place almost as barren as his mind.
The Tourist will arrive on BBC One and iPlayer on January 1st, 2022.
