Police have launched an investigation after Piers Morgan was sent death threats.
The 'Good Morning Britain' presenter revealed earlier this week that an Instagram user had commented on one of his pictures, of him and son Spencer Morgan, saying he was "getting killed", and Piers reported the threats to the Metropolitan Police, who visited his house last night (17.02.21) to take a statement.
He wrote on Twitter: "I've reported these death threats to @metpoliceuk and look forward to hearing back from them. I’m also keen to hear what steps @instagram @Facebook are taking to identify the person who made the death threats on their platform & has now deleted their account. (sic)"
A Twitter user then claimed in his experience the police "do very little" when it comes to social media, writing: "Unfortunately Piers when it comes to social media the police do very little. That's what I found in Merseyside anyway. They don't have the resources or time to trace accounts (sic)"
But Piers responded: "Well they’re definitely taking this seriously.. they’re round my house now taking a statement. (sic)"
The 'Life Stories' host initially told fans about the threat earlier in the week, when he shared a screenshot of the vile Instagram comment via his Twitter account, adding: "Let’s see how big and tough he feels when I give him the exposure he deserves".
The threat read: "your a marked man, calling the police, big tech or beefing up security isn't going to stop us getting to you, this isn't a threat piers it's a promise, your getting killed. (sic)"
What's more, the troll also threatened Spencer and Piers' ex, Spencer's mum Marion Shalloe.
Another comment read: "Watch your back @spencermorgan if you don't get your dad, your getting it or your mum is (sic)"
Ed Balls has won 'Celebrity Best Home Cook'.
The former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer beat off competition from Celebs Go Dating's Tom Read Wilson and journalist Rachel Johnson to take home the golden spoon trophy on the BBC One show, and he paid tribute to his mum for teaching him to cook.
He said: "It’s a great honour to win, it’s for my kids who I practiced on for years and years and for my mum, who taught me to cook.
"Cooking for me is what family is all about, and hopefully there’ll be lots of mums and dads, some who cook and some who don’t, who’ll think, I can have a go at that too."
Tom finished second, and admitted he was "proud" of Ed for claiming the title.
He said: "Truthfully, this is the best possible outcome.
"I’m so proud of Ed, he’s a chum, he’s a culinary wizard."
Ed faced off against Tom in judge Mary Berry's Ultimate final round after the former politician had advanced straight through to the stage by winning judge Chris Bavin’s notorious Rustle Up round against Tom and Rachel with an impressive Thai butternut squash and courgette curry.
Rachel and Tom then faced off in judge Angela Hartnett's Eliminator, where they had to make Croque en Bouche from scratch, and the former was sent packing following a blind tasting by the judges.
She said: "I got as far as I could have gone I think.
"Now I’ve come third in this competition, there’s even a chance that my husband won’t feel the need to cover everything I make with one of his ‘take the taste away’ sauces, so that’s another great result."
After announcing him as the victor, Mary admitted Ed was a "worthy winner".
She said: "Ed is a worthy winner, he put his heart and soul into the final, he cooks for his family every day and is a truly brilliant home cook."
