Ashley Banjo will co-host this year's Pride of Britain Awards.

The Diversity star is thrilled to have been asked to join regular presenter Carol Vorderman in anchoring this year's event, which celebrates the nation's unsung heroes and will take place at Grosvenor House hotel in London next month.

Ashley said: "I feel like I've been a part of Pride of Britain for a few years now but the chance to co-host it next to Carol, who is a complete legend and a pro, is amazing.

"It's such a special show and a hugely emotional and inspiring night."

And Carol, who has been host of the event for over 20 years, is "delighted" to be welcoming the 33-year-old star to join her on stage.

She said: "Ashley is a wonderful person and I’m delighted that he’s joining me because he has been involved for a few years now and it just feels right.

"The Pride of Britain Awards are incredibly special evening and show to be a part of."

Prince Charles will be in attendance at the ceremony, as will the likes of Ant and Dec, Anne-Marie, Ed Sheeran, Pixie Lott, KSI, Harry Kane, Joanna Lumley, Stephen Fry, Westlife, Jordan Pickford and Sharon Stone.

This year's ceremony will be the first time the event has taken place in person for two years because of disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The event will pay tribute to ordinary members of the public and the differences they have made thanks to their bravery, selflessness, campaigning and fundraising efforts.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, will broadcast on ITV on 4 November at 8pm.
