Arthur Darvill and Ciara Renée have been added to the cast of the upcoming The Flash/Arrow spin-off series in the roles of Rip Hunter and Hawkgirl respectively.
According to Deadline, Darvill is to play the DC Comics time-traveller who's never before been explored on television, putting on a charming and witty facade in a bid to hide the strains of being responsible for history.
Rip Hunter first appeared in 1959 and was central to his own comic book series between 1961 and 1965 in Rip Hunter... Time Master.
Meanwhile, the official description for Hawkgirl reads: "Kendra Saunders is a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker... Hawkgirl."
Embracing her comic book roots, she and Rip Hunter will join a line-up including Atom (Brandon Routh), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber).
Caity Lotz is also to take part in the spin-off, with her exact role shrouded in mystery following the death of her character Sara Lance in Arrow.
