Karren Brady says the first episode of the new ‘Apprentice’ series features "an incredible attempt of branding" that is "probably the worst I’ve ever seen".
The first task of the show's 16th series - which returned last night (06.01.22) - saw 16 candidates sent to Portsmouth on Virgin Voyages' brand-new flagship vessel the Scarlet Lady, and the candidates, who were split into two teams of boys vs girls, were tasked with making a marketing campaign for the luxury cruise liner.
But Karren was less than impressed with the lads' logo effort, likening it to a "turd".
She told BANG Showbiz and other media: “The first thing people will learn from the first episode is when designing for a billion pound cruise ship don’t design a logo that looks like a turd.
“I was sitting there watching them design it and they were actually really pleased with it.
“Who is going to spend thousands on a cruise who’s logo is shaped like a rotten banana or a very unfortunate shaped piece of dog poo?”
Leading the girls all the way to victory was pyjama retailer Kathryn Burn, who came up with the concept Bouji Cruises, a name that didn’t particularly go down well as not everyone knew what "bouji" meant.
Their blue logo looked more corporate then fun, according to the industry experts, and new aide Tim Campbell said: “It’s not bright enough, not bold enough, it’s definitely not bouji.”
Following the task, Lord Sugar fired bath bomb businessman Harry Mahmood, after branding him "disruptive".
