The 'Strictly Come Dancing' star revealed she has "bad back problems" from her time fronting 'Challenge Anneka', and the pain still bothers her 30 years later.

She told BBC News: "I'm paying even now because I have bad back problems as a result of the heavy lifting and digging we were doing.

"I was more or less a builder for six years!"

Despite the lasting impact on her body, Anneka is still so proud of the show's legacy after its six year run, as the broadcaster would persuade volunteers and businesses to help complete a community project in a limited timeframe.

She added: "The affection for it is epic. It is overwhelming on a daily basis. So many people were touched by the series - people's lives were literally changed.

"It's been my life's work, really. I've never left it because I am still very involved with so many projects."

Meanwhile, the 60-year-old star recently admitted she suffered a fall and injured her shoulder, which impacted her 'Strictly' training sessions and left her having steroid injections to help with the recovery.

She explained: "About six weeks ago, I fell in my neighbour's garden going down quite a slippery slope.

"It was after I had signed up and was all ready to go, but in the middle of my proper fitness training, so the last six weeks I have had to really rest it.

"I had steroid injections, and hopefully with a miracle, it will be fine."

However, she insisted that the show will go on.

When asked how bad the injury is, Anneka said: "I don't know, the steroid injection should help, it just so inflamed.

"It has got a small tear, and it is inflamed, but it is nothing so bad that I can't carry on."
