The quizzer has issued a come-and-get-me plea to the show's bosses because she is keen to become the ITV soap's next battle-axe character, after her 'The Chase' co-star Bradley Walsh - who has previously strutted his stuff on the famous cobbles - pointed out she would be a welcome addition to Weatherfield.

Former 'Corrie' star Bradley made the comments after Anne, 62, correctly answered a question about soap legend Violet Carson on the quiz show.

Speaking on 'The Chase', Bradley told Anne: "You would be great in 'Coronation Street'.

"I'm not being rude, but you would be a great battle-axe type character. I think you would be great."

Anne replied: "Yes, please cast me!"

The telly know-it-all and a contestant were tasked with working out which star out of Brie Larson, Greer Garson, and Violet had not won an Academy Award in their career.

Both correctly answered that Violet - who played original Corrie battle-axe Ena Sharples from 1960 until 1980 - had never won an Oscar before.

Brie won the Best Actress gong in 2016 for her role as Joy Newsome in 2015 drama film 'Room'.

Greer was nominated seven times in the Best Actress category in the 1940s, including five consecutive nods from 1941 to 1945, and she won in 1942 for her titular role in war film 'Mrs. Miniver'.

What's more, Bradley is no stranger to 'Corrie' himself, having portrayed Danny Baldwin - the eldest son of Mike Baldwin, who was played by the late Johnny Briggs - from 2004 to 2006.
