Anna Passey has praised Coronation Street's "incredible" portrayal of Aidan Connor's suicide storyline.
The 'Hollyoaks' actress - who plays Sienna Blake in the Channel 4 soap - believes the cast and crew of the ITV show did a "smashing job" of the hard-hitting storyline last week, which saw Aidan (Shayne Ward) break down before taking his own life, leaving his family in tatters.
Speaking at the Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (13.05.18), she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I just think it was incredible. I really do. Shayne Ward and the whole team have just done something really brilliant.
"Yes it's brave but it shouldn't have to be something that's brave. It should be commonplace.
"I think they've done a smashing job."
Anna has also praised former 'Corrie' star Rupert Hill, who recently appeared in 'Hollyoaks' as Ben Bradley's (Ben Richards) son Josh Bradley, for "nailing" his performance, and she has backed him to become a long-term member of the cast.
She said: "I loved working with Rupert. I've no idea [if he's here long-term]. I knew of Rupert before and he's incredible, he's a fun person to work with.
"He already had a big fan base but seeing him slip into that character and how he works ... with Sienna you have a huge back story, so he had to be sat down and caught up with who all these people were in her life.
"He nailed it and he would be great for 'Hollyoaks'."
As well as Rupert joining permanently, Anna would welcome the return of Jamie Lomas to the cast as his evil alter-ego Warren Fox.
She added: "Warren as a character is just amazing. I think Sienna met her match with Warren Fox, so for me that's a relationship that's awful and it's perfect. So I would always welcome him back."
