Angela Scanlon has been eliminated from 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 39-year-old presenter - who is best known for her role as a reporter on 'The One Show' - had been taking part in the BBC Latin and ballroom competition with professional partner Carols Gu but became the ninth celebrity to be axed from the series on Sunday (26.11.23) night's results show.
When asked by host Tess Daly about her time on the show, Angela said: “It’s been honestly incredible, I’m gutted, really gutted that it’s finished now, but it has been the most wonderful experience. I have made the best friend in this man [to Carlos]. We have had so much fun, he is such an incredible guy.
"He has supported me and picked me up and made me laugh so much. I don’t know what to say, it’s been magical honestly – all of those people up there! My husband at home, my two little girls, and all my friends!”
The TV star had found herself in the bottom two against former 'Bad Education' actor Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin and attempted to impress the judges by giving another performance of the Cha Cha to Gloria Gaynor classic 'I Will Survive' buyt judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton Du Beke all opted to save Layton and Nikita following their rendition of the American Smooth to Bjork hit 'It's Oh So Quiet.'
Craig said: “Technically for me personally, the better dance of the night, and the dance I actually enjoyed the most, was Layton and Nikita.”
The West End star and his partner had won the majority vote so would be staying in the competition regardless, but head judge Shirley Ballas revealed that had her vote counted, she would have opted to save Angela and Carlos.
She said: “Well important for me always when it comes to Ballroom and Latin is the character of the dance, that it’s true to the dance, timing and quality and I would have voted for Angela and Carlos.”
The remaining five couples will take to the dancefloor next when 'Strictly Come Dancing' returns for a musicals special on Saturday 2 December at 19:25, with the results show on Sunday 3 December at 19:20 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
Angela and Carlos will be joining Fleur East for their first exclusive televised interview live on 'Strictly It Takes Two' on Monday 27 November at 18:30 on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
