Angela Griffin is considered to be "cool" by her daughter's friends because she is in 'Waterloo Road'.

The 47-year-old actress - who has Tallulah, 19, and 16-year-old Melissa with husband Jason Milligan - played art teacher Kim Campbell in the original run of the hit BBC One drama series before her character came back as headteacher when the show was revived in 2020 and Angela admitted as well as impressing her daughter's friends, she loves seeing the reaction on social media when a new batch of episodes has been released.
She told Inside Soap: "Massively and, hand on heart, not one negative. Every person, young or old, I’ve spoken to has been really excited about the new Waterloo Road – including the original fans who watched it first time round, who’ve started having kids of their own. And this whole new audience. My girls are 16 and 19, and their friends think I’m cool! I’m so massively proud of it.
" I love my social media about 4pm when the superfans have woken up and just sat and watched the full eight hours. I don’t think they have toilet breaks! I love those fans. I think they’re brilliant."
The former 'Coronation Street' actress played Kim throughout the first two series of the show and her character had an on/off relationship with former private school teacher Andrew Treneman (Jamie Glover) before the pair embarked on a sabbatical to Rwanda.
When she returned alone at the end of series four, Kim brought with her a baby from an impoverished Rwandan family whom she had smuggled through customs but her actions were quickly found out and the little one was taken away from her.
Kim returned at the start of the next series to resume her teaching duties and left again when she ended up pregnant by superhead Max Tyler (Tom Chambers) but by the time the show was revamped, it was revealed that her son had died of a sudden illness.
As the new headteacher of the fictional Manchester comprehensive, Angela explained that in real life such a position is a "thankless task" and wishes she could give her alter-ego some advices but is aware that everything would probably go wrong anyway.
She said: "I do, but it’s a thankless task. If you haven’t got these members of staff within schools who are willing to go above and beyond for very little, where would our kids be? As her mate, I probably would give her advice, but I wouldn’t want her to take it because we’d all go to hell in a handcart!"
