Andrea McLean is leaving ‘Loose Women’.
The 51-year-old television star has been a co-presenter for the ITV daytime talk show since 2007, and on Monday (30.11.20), she announced she will be “saying goodbye” to the show as she moves on to pursue other interests.
Andrea said her decision was influenced by the “incredible feedback” she received after releasing her book, ‘This Girl Is on Fire’, in September this year, which details her journey from trauma, toxic relationships and divorce towards empowerment, happiness and healing.
Speaking through tears on Monday’s episode of ‘Loose Women’, she confirmed: “I’m going to be leaving ‘Loose Women’. I didn’t mean to cry, I’m so sorry. I want to be brave, I really want to … all the incredible feedback I had from my book, and the support I was able to give them, I want to bring it to life and I want to … Oh gosh, I’m so sorry.
“It was a really big decision to jump and see if I fall or if I fly, and I just thought I will never know unless I try, so I’m saying goodbye to ‘Loose Women’.”
Andrea’s co-hosts immediately gave the star their support, with Linda Robson praising her as a “real good friend”.
She said: “We’re going to miss you so much Andrea, honestly, you’ve been amazing and a real good friend to me when I was going through my depression. You were the one that was ringing all the time to see if I was okay, and I just know that we won’t lose touch, we’ll still be seeing each other.”
And the TV star also insisted she isn’t “leaving today”, but wanted to have plenty of time to tell her co-stars and her viewers that her time on ‘Loose Women’ is coming to an end in the near future.
Andrea added: “I’m not leaving today, this is just my day to tell you guys.”
