Anastacia was told she might lose her breast after she injured herself on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 'I'm Outta Love' hitmaker - who underwent a double mastectomy last year following two separate battles with breast cancer - was terrified she'd injured her scar tissue so badly while rehearsing for the ballroom and latin show that she'd end up having to have her reconstructed boobs taken off.
Speaking on 'Loose Women' on Tuesday (01.11.16), she said of the backlash she received for not taking part in the dance-off earlier this month: "Not doing the dance-off was purely because they didn't know if I had injured myself so much that I could lose it. It was fear, I was terrified and, at the time, there wasn't a doctor open on Sunday so I was a mess until Monday when I could find out that the rip was not to scar tissue and that I would not lose the breast. Understandably so, I would have left but they have rules and that's why it was hard for me. I felt awful but they had rules and they had to go to the rules."
But the 48-year-old singer wasn't the only one struggling to come to terms with the injury as her professional partner Brendan Cole - who was also forced to miss a week due to a chest infection - thought she was overreacting until they were given the doctor's verdict on the following Monday.
She explained: "I think he had a difficult time with it as well because he's a professional and he had never experienced it before and you almost feel like you have to dance-off if you're hurt and then we found out it wasn't just muscle, it was really deep."
Anastacia - who has donated her entire appearance fee to Breast Cancer Awareness - was given the boot last weekend after the judges chose to save Daisy Lowe in the dance-off, but she admitted she half expected to leave because she and Brendan spent the majority of their rehearsals having fun rather than going through the steps like they should have been.
She said: "Actually we were both pushing each other. Him and I are fighters. Truthfully, because we were both feisty, we loved that about each other and instead of working against each other, we found that we should work with it. He has a great sense of humour and I really had a lot of laughs with him. We did a lot of hours in the practice room but we were just having a good time."
