Amy Schumer has been working her way up the comedy circuit heirarchy over the past few years, with her sketch series Inside Amy Schumer steadily gaining traction and new fans throughout its first two seasons.

This year has seen her show generate dozens of stories and press coverage, and the comedian also hosted April's MTV Movie Awards with great reviews. Now she's set to star in romantic comedy Trainwreck from Judd Apatow, but there is one place she could have been.

That place is The Daily Show, currently fronted by Jon Stewart, who's set to give up the role this coming August. Schumer was a big contender to replace Stewart, and she recently told Howard Stern that she met with the host over pizza to discuss the future of the show, eventually deciding it wasn't the right career move for her.

She explained: "I really thought about it but it just wasn't right for me... Just picturing being in the same building every day... I just pictured all of the fittings, like all of the blazers I would have to wear. And I was like, 'I don't want to do that... If I heard that I was hosting The Daily Show, I would be like, 'Give me a f**king break.'"

She added that she has complete faith in newly announced Daily Show host Trevor Noah, claiming he'll be "much better at it than I could've ever been."

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah premieres later this year on Comedy Central, on September 28 in the US.
