Sarah Paulson teased American Horror Story fans on Twitter yesterday with the reveal of her two-headed character that she'll play in the forthcoming series Freakshow.

"So excited to be playing Bette AND Dot this season. Two heads are better than one! #AHSFREAKSHOW" she tweeted alongside the following picture.

There's just a few months until the show is expected to begin airing, with favourites Jessica Lange, Dennis O'Hare, Frances Conroy and Evan Peters all returning for their fourth season running.

Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Jamie Brewer and Michael Chiklis will also be appearing on the show.

Lange will play a German ex-pat running one of the last freak shows in the country, whilst O'Hare is to play an antagonist to Lange's character.

Writer Ryan Murphy has also revealed "the most terrifying clown ever" will play a part, called Clown Killer.

"It's very exciting and totally nerve-wracking in the best way, because you think, ‘How the hell am I going to pull this off?!' And as an actor, I think that's an exciting thing to feel." said Paulson of her part in a recent E! News interview.

American Horror Story: Freak Show returns this October.
