New gameshow Amazing Greys has been axed.
The ITV game show hosted by comedian Paddy McGuinness and presenter Angela Rippon - which saw youngsters take on talented old aged pensioners, including chef Prue Leith and footballer Geoff Hurst, in a variety of challenges - has been cancelled after just six episodes due to poor ratings.
The show, which was broadcast on Saturday nights following 'Britain's Got Talent', opened with a respectable 5.2 million viewers in April but struggled to retain its popularity, reaching just 2.9 million viewers for the final episode last month.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "'Amazing Greys' was a great show. Everyone was proud of it and it was a happy ship on set. But it just didn't catch the public imagination and the ratings were not enough to warrant a second series.
"It's a real shame because Paddy and Angela were incredible together and they would have loved to do another series."
Although ITV is yet to confirm the news, a spokesperson for the channel said: "No decisions have been made on any future series."
Meanwhile, ITV is hoping their latest game show 'Keep it in the Family' - which will see two families go head-to-head in a series of challenges - will be more successful and have called in 'Wheel of Fortune' host Bradley Walsh to present it.
The source said: "There are big hopes that 'Keep it in the Family' will take off.
"Everything Bradley has ever done for ITV has been brilliant and hopefully this will go the same way."
