The 44-year-old host - who's been fronting the ITV show alongside Phillip Schofield in the absence of regular host Holly Willoughby - recreated the drama of their on-screen spat on 'Britain's Got Talent' in May, when Stephen said Amanda looked like 74-year-old socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein.

Asked if he was returning to do more 'Britain's Got More Talent', Stephen replied: "Of course I'm coming back, it's the tenth year next year."

Then, as she threw the water in Stephen's direction, Amanda said: "It wasn't because of this, was it? It's my last day!"

A shocked Stephen turned to Phillip and said: "Did you know she was going to do that?"

Amanda quickly said: "I didn't know until just then!"

However, Stephen took the soaking with good humour and explained that the original incident was triggered by a conversation between himself and 'Britain's Got Talent' hosts Ant and Dec.

Recalling the incident in May, Stephen said: "Amanda is our longest serving judge ... and we came up with this idea. The team said 'do it, do it'. Ant said 'Don't do it' and Dec went 'Do it!' So we did it ...[and Amanda threw water over me]."

By the end of the show, however, Amanda was in a much more sombre mood, telling viewers: "I'm swallowing a lot and looking away from Phillip so I don't cry."

Holly - who is currently on maternity leave - also called in to thank the blonde beauty for covering for her.

She said: "Hi Phil, hi Amanda and hi to you all watching at home. I just want to say that I'm very, very much looking forward to being back in September - I can't believe it's been a year already. Amanda, thank you so much for all your hard work, you've been absolutely brilliant, but now it is time to give me back my silver fox!"

Eamonn Holmes and his 'Loose Women' anchor wife Ruth Langsford are set to take over the reigns of the show next week until Phil and Holly return in September.
