Alison Hammond was “scared for her life” after Paul Hollywood took her for a spin in his Lamborghini.
The 49-year-old TV star has been hosting Channel 4’s ‘The Great British Bake Off’ with Paul, 58, since March 2023, and has revealed she was left shaken after he took her for a pulse-pounding ride in his sports car.
During an appearance on ‘Rob Beckett’s Smart TV’, she said: “He had this beautiful Lamborghini and I had to squeeze myself in, literally leaning over the his gear stick.
“He then took me for a ride and I’ve literally never been more scared in my life.
“I was just screaming all the way.”
Aside from ‘Bake Off’, the TV star had hosted ‘This Morning’ alongside 50-year-old Dermot O’Leary, though has since handed over the reigns to Cat Deeley, 47, and Ben Shepard, 49.
However, Alison revealed she “never” wanted to present the programme full time due to her other TV commitments.
When The Sunday Times asked if there had been any further discussions with ITV over her future as the show’s host, she said: “Absolutely not. How could I? I live in Birmingham and do ‘Bake Off’ and ‘For the Love of Dogs’. I never wanted that job. Last year, we did extra because we were going through issues, but Cat and Ben will save that show.”
The programme was plunged into controversy after 61-year-old Phillip Schofield left in May 2023, following an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague.
Even so, Alison refused to discuss the situation, and insisted she wished “the best” for the disgraced presenter.
She said: “Listen, I don’t want to get into salacious gossip. All I need to say is I personally wish Phillip Schofield all the best. I loved Phillip Schofield. Full stop. But that’s the last thing I would want to speak about.”
