Alison Hammond is set to host ‘This Morning’ this week.
The 45-year-old showbiz reporter will take on hosting duties without presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Friday (23.10.20) and also guest-edit the special episode, banning any talk of the coronavirus and lockdown.
She said: “It will just be a joy! There will be nothing about lockdown or coronavirus. There’ll be a lot of recipes and food… and maybe a little bit of fashion and fun. It’s going to be great and I’m excited to be the boss!”
Alison will co-host the show with ‘The X Factor’ presenter Dermot O’Leary as they take charge instead of Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes - who usually step in for Holly and Phil on Fridays.
She has insisted on hunky male models for a fashion segment by Gok Wan, and a tap-dancing troupe to open the show.
Alison is also hoping for the crew to wear ‘Team Alison’ t-shirts, and to send Josie Gibson on a scary Halloween challenge.
The ‘Big Brother’ star will be taking over editing duties from regular editor Martin Frizell, but she'll still meet with him to discuss the running of the show.
He will share his tips from his five year experience before Alison will decide what topics to cover and then direct the show.
Martin said: “I still can’t quite believe I’ve agreed to this... But yes, on Friday our Alison Hammond will be stepping into my shoes and taking charge of ‘This Morning’.
“She will brief Dermot, decide on the topics and items of the day, and be in the gallery calling the shots and giving her unique style of guidance to the team.”
Although it will be a chaotic day for Alison, the editor believes she will do a great job as she knows the show “inside out”.
He added: “But you know what, I think she’ll be great – she knows the show inside out and I think viewers will be in for a real treat.”
