The streaming platform is set to alert viewers to "racist terms" in Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy, which saw him playing the wannabe rapper and first aired on Channel 4 back in 2000.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "The warning will be greeted with disbelief by anyone who watched the original series which was almost universally liked.

“There were some voices who criticised the show for allowing people to laugh at black, urban street culture, but the majority of viewers thought Ali G was hilarious.”

With the show joining Britbox, fans tuning in are warned that episodes feature "crude humour, including racist terms which may offend, sexual references and strong language”.

However, the platform has confirmed they won't be making any "edits" to the episodes, meaning the only changes will be those already made by All4.

They said: "We’ll be running the episodes as supplied by All4 with no further edits.”

Sacha recently reprised the role - as well as Borat Sagdiyev, Bruno Gehard and Admiral General Aladeen - as he accepted the Comedic Genius prize at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The cleverly-edited skit saw Ali G interrupting Borat's acceptance speech before the 49-year-old actor also came out as himself and told the character he was a "white suburban kid who’s coo-opting black culture".

His rapper alter ego called it "white privilege' before storming off as Sacha continued with a tongue-in-cheek speech.

He added: "Thank you MTV; to the millions of fans out there who voted for me, I salute you. This is yours, I’d be nothing without you. I’m so humbled by this. I’m just a human being creating complex nuanced characters — sophisticated tools to expose..."

He then got interrupted by Bruno with some innuendo and X-rated jokes.

Rounding off the speech, Sacha quipped: "Before anyone else does it, I am officially cancelling myself — I was actually really looking forward to this after losing the Oscar. You can f****** keep it!"
