The 40-year-old TV presenter shares custody of his son Cruz, 11, with his ex-wife Natalia, but he revealed she has tested positive for coronavirus and while he doesn't have any symptoms he is now isolating.

He wrote on Twitter: "Over the weekend my sons mother tested positive for coronavirus. As he moves between households I will now be self isolating with my son who came to stay with me this weekend. Currently we don’t have any symptoms. First and foremost we wish Natalia a speedy recovery (sic)"

Alex presents the weather forecast on Thursdays and Fridays on 'GMB', and he has also co-hosted the show at times.

The star's self-isolating comes just three weeks after he took to Instagram to reveal he was "feeling groggy" after undergoing a tonsillectomy, a surgical procedure in which both tonsils are fully removed from the back of the throat.

Sharing a selfie from a hospital bed, he wrote: "Tonsillectomy Completed! Feeling groggy! All remedies welcome (sic)"

In October, Alex took to Twitter to reveal he had pulled out of co-hosting 'Good Morning Britain' after feeling "unwell".

He tweeted: "BREAKING: Due to having a cold and feeling unwell I won't be hosting @gmb tomorrow or Friday.

"In normal circumstances I'd power through, however with things getting worse we don't need any more germs flying around the studio. (sic)"

Alex also apologised to Ben Shephard for cutting short his half-term holiday.

He wrote on the micro-blogging site: "Sorry to cut short your half term break @benshephard."
