Aled Jones has been robbed of his Rolex watch after he and his son were allegedly targeted by a teenager wielding a machete.
The 52-year-old singer was walking on Chiswick Road in west London with his 18-year-old son Lucas on July 7th, when the star claims he was robbed of his Rolex Daytona timepiece, which is said to have been worth about £17,000.
A 16 year old has since been charged by the Metropolitan Police with one count of robbery, which they deny.
'Songs of Praise' host Aled is said to have handed the Rolex over during the alleged attack, rather than put up a fight, and he was left "shaken" after the incident.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “They were out in a nice part of West London.
"Aled was totally shocked as it came out of nowhere and all happened so fast.
"The robber threatened him with the machete and demanded the Rolex. Luckily Aled was savvy enough not to put up fight for the watch while he was having a deadly weapon waved at him.
"Although Aled was shaken afterwards, he was quite relieved.
"He was glad he and Lucas were not hurt and that they got home safely to the rest of their family."
The 'Walking in the Air' singer rang the police after the robbery on July 7th, and officers arrested the suspect shortly afterwards.
The Metropolitan Police told the publication: "A 16 year old was charged with one count of robbery. The charge follows a robbery on Friday July 7 on Chiswick Road.
"At about 17.40hrs a 52-year-old man reported he had been approached by a male who threatened him with a machete and demanded his watch."
A 16 year old, who denies the attack, is due to face trial next month.
