Alan Carr's husband Paul Drayton reversed into a police car and narrowly missed a mother with a pram while drunk, a court has heard.
The 50 year old - who has been married to comedian Alan since 2018 - is accused of being four times over the drink-drive limit when his motor allegedly nearly hit the lady in West Sussex last month.
According to The Sun newspaper, Paul denies being behind the wheel for the near-miss, and he claims the breathalyser machine wasn't working properly.
Prosecutor David Holman told Crawley Magistrates' Court: "The officer says there was a strong smell of intoxicating liquor.
"The driver was then unsteady on his feet and lacked co-ordination.
"His speech was slurred and his eyes were glazed."
The case has been adjourned until November 23rd, and it will be heard at Brighton Magistrates' Court.
In August, Alan said he was trying to get his husband Paul the "help he needs" after he started drinking again.
At the time, the comedian told how his significant other "fell off the wagon" while Alan was away filming in Wales, but the 'Chatty Man' host was working with Paul to help him.
He said: "While I was away filming on location the past few weeks, Paul fell off the wagon and started drinking again.
"When I arrived back home from Wales, Paul was covered in scratches and bruises from a drinking binge.
"We are now working together to get the help he needs to get better which is our number one priority right now."
Alan previously admitted the coronavirus lockdown had tempted Paul to start drinking again, but he was "proud" of him for staying sober.
He said: "It's been tough for Paul during lockdown. He's been saying, 'Oh, shall we get a bottle?' and I say, 'No, we're not getting any rose wine in.' He's been so good and I'm so proud of him."
