Alan Carr wants "nut-jobs" to compete on his new show 'The Singer Takes It All'.

Alan Carr has revealed he is happy to welcome "nut-jobs" to try out for his new singing game show 'The Singer Takes It All'.

Chat show host  Alan Carr will front Channel 4's new singing game show, which will see wannabes perform on a moving stage to win a cash prize, and he is happy to embrace tone-deaf hopefuls.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We're openly encouraging nut-jobs to come down and sing! I enjoyed 'The Voice', but when they got rid of the loons it became less interesting.

"We all love characters like Wagner and Diva Fever.

"That said, you need to have a balance. We want talented singers as well, otherwise it's just a freak show on a conveyor belt."

Singers will perform on an 18-metre moving stage and viewers at home are given all the power as they can vote through a mobile phone app as the contestant performs. If the majority of viewers press 'Hit', the singer is moved to the front of the stage, but if they press 'Miss' the contestant is hurtled towards the back.

Alan said of the innovative format: "The fact that it's interactive and the great British public are the judges makes it really groundbreaking - which is not something you usually associate with me!

"It's a singing show with a 'Gogglebox' feel, because the show is in the hands of the viewers at home.

"It strips away all the boring sob stories you get on 'The X Factor'."
