Alan Carr is set to be David Walliams' replacement on Britain's Got Talent
The 46-year-old stand-up comedian is set to take a seat on the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon for the new series of the ITV talent show.
Walliams, 51, found himself at the centre of a controversy in 2022 following recordings that were leaked on which he could be heard making crude sexual remarks about two contestants during auditions in January 2020.
He publicly apologised for his remarks but after 10 years on the programme decided to walk away, leaving a chair free for Alan.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Alan is joining the line-up, it just has to be him - he’s brilliant.
"The deal is being finalised, but it's details now - and he’s totally up for it too. It’s the perfect hiring all round.”
Another source told the Daily Mail: "Alan is hilarious but also kind. He tells a mean joke but he is also soft in the middle. The bosses are already excited about how wonderful he will be with the contestants."
Carr was one of several stars in talks with Cowell, 63, and producers about becoming the new 'BGT' judge but he quickly emerged as the favourite candidate.
Away from his stand-up shows, Alan has had TV hit after TV hit with shows such as 'The Friday Night Project' - which he hosted with Justin Lee Collins - and Channel 4's 'Chatty Man'
The next series of 'Britain's Got Talent' has a new twist as this year viewers can secretly put forward a friend or family member to audition with their talent.
