The 'Poldark' hunk has admitted he pretended he was an experienced rider when he applied to play Ross Poldark in the popular drama series, even though he'd only ever sat on a horse before, because he was desperate for the part.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2's 'Breakfast Show with Sara Cox', he said: "I lie all the time to get jobs. It was on my CV that I could ride a horse but I couldn't really do it. I could walk around on a horse but I couldn't gallop or anything like that. I just blagged it on the day.

"My very first day on 'Poldark' was cantering around one of the houses and I nailed it. I just pretended to be good and it just turned into a good thing. [On my CV I just write down that I can do] juggling, jiving, you just pick them out of the air and hope people believe you."

The first series of 'Poldark' went down so well with viewers that producers have already started thinking about the third installment, even though the second batch of episodes is yet to hit television screens across the nation.

However, that's not the only thing lined up for the drama as Eleanor Tomlinson - who plays Demelza Poldark in the show - has let slip that there's going to be a 'Poldark' album.

She explained: "I am going to do more singing. There's a few more Demelza songs coming. There is going to be an album. There's a soundtrack of 'Poldark' and apparently I'm on it. There will be the theme tune and some of Demelza's songs."

The second series of 'Poldark' will hit screens this weekend.
