The 52-year-old actor - who plays Ian Beale in the BBC soap - separated from his wife after 22 years of marriage and is presently living "in a field in Devon" while he's on a break from the show.

Adam - who is preparing to tour the UK for an upcoming play - told 'The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show' on BBC Radio 2: "I am loving my break, I’m having a ball.

"I’m getting ready for the tour which was supposed to have started in January, then it was supposed to start in April and then it was supposed to start in June - it keeps getting knocked back.

"But basically I’m in a motorhome. I’ve got a motorhome ready for the tour so I won’t have to worry about staying in hotels or anything like that.

"But I’ve taken advantage of it and I’m currently in a field in Devon."

Adam confirmed the end of his marriage last August and hasn't appeared on 'EastEnders' since January, after being granted an extended break by the show's bosses.

The veteran soap star is currently focused on his role in an adaptation of the crime novel 'Looking Good Dead' by Peter James.

Looking forward to starring in the production, he said: "It’s a cracking tour."

On the other hand, Adam - who has children Samuel, 24, and Jessica, 28, with Beverley - isn't looking forward to the amount of travel involved with the tour.

He said: "My only complaint is seeing as I’m the driver of said motorhome … at one point we’ve got to go from Edinburgh to Brighton."
