Adam Peaty's girlfriend Eiri Munro felt like the world was "against her" after she was inundated with troll comments last week following his near-kiss with Katya Jones on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The Olympic swimmer and his pro dancer partner Katya performed a steamy Argentine Tango on the BBC show earlier this month, culminating in an almost-smooch, and his significant other Eiri has admitted she had to take a break from social media after receiving numerous negative remarks.
She said: "I did take a little bit of a break, a little one.
"I want to say thank you to everyone, it actually makes me a bit emotional. To everyone that has been really nice to me because last week was a lot. I do want to say I appreciate people on here.
"Even if it’s a thousand nice comments and one mean one, it’s so easy to feel like the world is against you and it did feel like that for a while."
Eiri admitted she later had a "reality check" and felt better when she read lots of positive comments.
Speaking in a TikTok video, she added: "Then I had a reality check and I remembered that I’m not that important.
"But you guys made me feel so much better, those who were checking up on me and those who were commenting, I appreciate you. Thank you."
Adam previously insisted fans had got "carried away" after his and Katya's Argentine Tango.
He said: "It's about being believable as well. You don't want to do a dance like that and not do it justice because you haven't switched on right at the end.
"So it's being believable and that's what some people get carried away with.
"But hey ho, that's life."
Katya added: "The judges kept saying how much we weren't connecting the emotion to the dance, there had to be more connection."
