Abbie Quinnen is still seeing a therapist eight months after suffering third degree burns.
The 23-year-old dancer - who is dating former 'Strictly Come Dancing' star AJ Pritchard - has opened up about her ongoing physical and mental recovery after suffering horrific burns in a fireball accident earlier this year, when a stunt intended for social media went badly wrong.
Praising the care she's received from the NHS, she told The Sun newspaper: "I see a therapist as well for the mental side of my injuries.
"I was so amazed that the NHS provided that and really encouraged me to heal mentally too. "I think for the first few weeks, I didn't really want to talk about what had happened to me."
However, Abbie revealed that her surgeon urged her to speak to someone and she's glad she took her advice.
She added: "I wanted to forget about [the accident] and just try and recover. But as soon as I saw my surgeon, and before she did my three surgeries, she asked why I hadn't taken the option of therapy.
"She told me how vital it was to heal. I followed her advice and it has really helped me.
"I still speak to someone once a week and I feel like I've come on in leaps and bounds emotionally and mentally as well as physically."
Over summer, Abbie - who needed three skin grafts and 20 hospital visit - previously admitted she was so "traumatised" by the incident that she did "everything to push" AJ away.
She explained: "I did everything to push him away from me. I felt so traumatised, I hit out at the person who loved me the most.
“He was by my side from the moment I came out of hospital, cooking for me, rubbing creams and moisturisers into my scars four times a day, and telling me I was beautiful, not letting me lift a finger.
"He was keeping so calm and upbeat for me, but I was an emotional mess and I wanted him to be as devastated as I was.”
